Souza's goal is to balance realism with the infinite abstractions found in nature. His realism has evolved over a span of twenty years through a close observation of nature, portrayed with the subtle use of light and texture capturing a timeless quietude of the moment. While in his teens, one of Souza's paintings was selected by Shirley Temple Black for the United Nations' collection. Several years later his work was winning numerous awards in local and statewide competitions and finding it's way into many important private and corporate collections. Souza's work has been exhibited widely in many national exhibitions, including: The American Watercolor Society; The National Watercolor Society; Watercolor West; The American Artists Professional League; The Salmagundi Club in New York City; to name a few. "Creativity is the fundamental drive of the human spirit, enriching the soul of civilization, it's support and development is vital to us all. In my work I seek to involve the viewer in the idea of the timelessness within nature by capturing the interaction of light and design taking place all around us." | |
