BIOGRAPHY OF RALF EGGER


1938: Born and grown up in Leoben/Styria.

1958: Abitur followed by study of art history in Graz. First wanted to become a writer and argued autodidactly with painting of expressionism.

1960-65: Study of painting and restoration at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. Degree.

1966-68: Job as a private detective.

1968: Actual beginning of art work. Preferred technique is the painting behind or under glass (Hinterglasmalerei).

1971: Purchase of an old winegrower house in Trausdorf a. W. and so the permanent settlement in Burgenland.

1973: Participation in artists-meetings in Rabnitztal.

1976: Start with the technique of etching and installation of an own lowprint workshop.

1978-80: Stays and exhibitions in USA, Little Rock and mainly New York. The meetings with the art movement there (popart and photorealism) caused a far reaching shapely changes. At the same time he founded his studio-gallery in his own house.

1983: Award of Theodor Kery foundation. Admitted as a member of the artists group in Burgenland.

1985: Turned towards water colour painting in academic tradition.

1994: Restart of shape material and the theories of painting of his artistic beginning.
