Name: Carolyn J. Cappello, CWA
Locale: Lake Wildwood, Callifornia

Exhibitions: Carolyn has been involved in art projects all her life, but it was not until 1986 that she began working on transparent watercolors. She works mainly in florals, botanicals and still life paintings. Though primarily self-taught, she has studied with noted watercolorists Sondra Freckleton and Susan McKinnon. In 1989, she left a career as a health educator to pursue her art full time. Her award winning work has appeared in over sixty regional, national and international exhibitions. Over sixty of her watercolors have been published as greeting cards and posters. Her lithographs include a set of floral bouquets and a set of botanicals, and she has been commissioned to do work for Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation. Her work and commentary appear in three editions of American Artist Watercolor magazine: On the color violet in the '97 Winter edition; on the color green in the '93 edition; and on the color gray in the '92 edition. Carolyn is a member of: National League of American Pen Women; American Society of Botanical Artists; Nevada County (CA) Arts Council; and a signature member of California Watercolor Association. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in health science from San Diego State University. After living in San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area, Carolyn now makes her home and studio in Lake Wildwood in the Western Sierra Nevada Foothills of northern California. Artist's Statement: Discovering watercolor painting is one of the most significant events of my life. It is a great joy to be able to capture the beauty of flowers and their delicate colors and structure and to share my love of that beauty with so many wonderful people who have come into my life as a result of my art. I feel a deep and meaningful connection with people and nature through my ability to paint. It is a joy for which I never cease being grateful.
