1935: LaraBizarri was born in Grosseto. She took from her father, a self-made stone carver, the artistic vein. 1945/1959: At school, she was considered a natural talent in free hand drawing. In this period she created drawings inspired to the American adventure cartoon. It is well known that her teachers withdrew these drawings (without having the courage to destroy them) because they were considered misappropriated for the school programs of that time. 1950/1960: In a self-taught way Lara learned the oil technique studying and copying the classic painters of Italian renaissance. 1960/1970: She tried to liberate herself from the classic lesson of the big painters of the past and started to develop her own figurative style. She started to present her paintings to some galleries of the region. 1970/1976: This is the period of her first long journeys she visited the cradle of the classic arts, Grece, Crete and the Turkish coasts. The drawings and paintings of this period contain the harmony and elegance of the classic forms. Afterwards Egypt entered in her imagination like a place of harmonious fusion among art, civilization and mysticism. That's why for three years in a row she went up the river Nile along the king valley to discover the Egyptian art in the whole beauty and power. 1976/1980: Collaboration and view exchange started with some Toscan painters; she acquired also the knowledge of new artistic techniques. 1980/1988: She visited Asia and Africa. She chose India for the intensity of the colours and the complexity of the religions ;Africa for the particular atmosphere linked to the smell of the land , the simplicity of the people and the immensity of its nature; Indonesia and the pacific islands to prove the same emotion felt by the first explorers of these lands . After returning from the journeys Lara acquired the total control of dosing all the colours that she met along all these experiences, adding new characters to her compositions. This period is remarkable for her intense activity in oil paintings and for the creation of some small terra-cotta sculptures. 1988/1993: Lara ,thanks to the initiative of some friends that recognise her talent, participated to several expositions in Rome, Venice, Bologna and Modena. New subjects and compositions are introduced in Lara's paintings: in this respect it is proper to remind the equinemachy theme. 1994: She exhibited in Kempten (Germany) her original creations. Some paintings are inspired to the abstractionism and the cubism. 1995: She exhibited with big success in Frankfort and Zurigo. 1996: Some significant paintings of the ' 80 and '90 were presented in two occasions in Frankfort and Marbella together with the intense artistic production of l 996. 1997: Exposition in Brera (Milano, Galleria Ciovassa) Return to Lara Bizzarri page |
